The problem

The meat case stopped answering questions.

A shopper reads a bioengineered label, then a recall headline, and decides to buy somewhere else. Then the trouble starts. Google Maps returns butcher shops that are mostly counters reselling the same boxed beef. Yelp rates parking and friendliness, not sourcing. Reddit threads decay in a week.

USDA publishes the definitive data: roughly 7,100 inspected establishments, their addresses, whether they slaughter or only process, and a live recall feed. Then it does nothing with it. No judgment. No answer a shopper can use.

So the shopper drives to a shop, asks across a counter, and gets a shrug. Meanwhile the butcher who does the work properly — whole animals, one farm, an on-site kill floor — stays invisible beside a reseller with better search results.

Nobody needs another rating. What is missing is a record.
